OK, not sure how it will work out, but stay tuned to see the results.

There’s something very basic about making a quilt.
To the casual stroller of the streets, it’s a town of culture, its colorful and full of interest, each turn is carefully sculptured for both the visual delight and of course lets not be coy… they love to receive the contents of your pocket. I’ve never seen so many galleries in one place in my entire travels. There are over 300 galleries in this one small enclave.
No, it’s not how to take a super photograph with all the bells and whistles, It’s a down to earth look at how to take an image and use it to create a piece of Textile art.
The store is friendly, homely and you are welcomed with a smile and a free coffee, I think our breakfast of a savory muffin and a coffee scroll cost just under $5.00 for the two of us. We perched on high chairs like two budgies and laughed through breakfast.
I’ve just left Shipshewana and it’s certainly with a degree of sadness. Its left me with a desire to return and explore more.
We arrived at about 8.00 pm last Sunday. It was still light and as we made our way to the hotel, we passed a number of Amish buggies on the road. They hold a fascination for me. The stark black shape of the buggy as opposed to the beauty and fluidity of the horses trotting. The red sign on the back for safety is a design element and somehow I need to work it into a project.
Visiting an antique mall is more than that, I’m looking for colors and patterns and I just use my camera. This dress below is a 30’s dress. I love the free, and the combination of colors in the pattern.
Repetition creates a pattern, which consequently and naturally grabs our attention at first and then creates the comfort of familiarity. I used the Andy Warhol theory and then of course Kaffe did one with bowls in each block.
I’ve just stepped out of the shower and it’s the place I do my best musing. First of all the tiles in shower are sage/mint green that was popular in the 60’s. Its like stepping back into another age. But its a bit quaint. I did however, buy a new pillow to sleep on and I tucked away the bedding other than the sheets and slept under my own quilt last night. Its not too bad, I don’t like those polyester quilt covers and blankets in hotels. I don’t know what sort of history it has. At least with a crisp white doona cover, you can tell if its pristine. I sure know my quilt is.
Just working through the sketch book.
