One of my delights.

6th March 2017

It’s 9.30 and we’ve just returned from dinner.

It was indeed a most interesting meal, the small restaurant specializes in paratha bread stuffed with all sorts of things. potato, chicken. well really, you name it, and it’s in the bread. Accompanied by sauces, yoghurt and mint and pickle. I feel guilty eating one at home, but no worries here, they disappeared by the dozen.
The atmosphere was wonderful, and a band was playing requests… thinking that I was American, they played jingle bells for me, no prompting from me.

How does one describe a drive in Delhi traffic in a tuk tuk at 7.30 at night.
Of course its dark with the lights of thousands of cars, bikes and tuk tuks just inches from each other illuminating the night. The fact that there is a bus just inches from your exposed arm on the door side of the vehicle is just common place, so suck it up honey.
Every one of those thousands had a hand on the horn….the noise is deafening and you just accept it.
The driver weaves his way through the traffic, beep beep. For Petes sake what is that feeble little noise going to achieve. We bounce over the bumps, we avoid the dogs (thankfully) and finally we arrive at our destination.

Thing is, you can barely see rickshaws in Delhi anymore. Hostile takeover by tuk-tuks and autos. *gasps*
