Go to the end of the path until you get to the gate.
Go through the gate and head straight towards the horizon.
Keep going towards the horizon.
Sit down and have a rest now and again.
But keep on going.
Just keep on with it.
Keep on going as far as you can.
That’s how you get there.

Pam, I just had the pleasure of taking your Craftsy class and I enjoyed it so much. Thank you for being so generous with your talent. This is my first visit (surely not the last) to your website and I am in awe of your lovely artwork. Africa is amazing, the elephants and the bird in a tree. Wow! I feel blessed that I crossed your path!
p.s. I am Trixiebelle
It’s the only way . . . . .
So simple, positive and encouraging. A.
Honestly, very simple words but so much encouragement.
I LOVE this…
We can rest but never stop going. 💓
That seems to be excellent advice in, say, the use of fossil fuels to destroy the inhabitability of the planet. And the journey these days, seems not all that far off at all.
Quitters never wins
Difficult but true.
Nice 🙂
Hi Pam, wow, this is something I really needed to read right now and will be quoting it to my partner later on. Did you write this yourself? If so, I’d love to copy it on to my page and I will give you credit of course. It relates so so so well to what we are trying to achieve with our lives. xxx Love Em xxx
Hi Pam, thank you for liking, if you like please look at our About Us page on our blog, that would be lovely and you can see how well your poem links to us and our journey 🙂 http://www.emandwillowtakecanada.wordpress.com
That’s exactly how you get there! Love this

This is a beautiful writing, it shows you the path of life, it paints a picture of perseverance, “Keep on going”, the imagery is very powerful and inspirational.
It’s beautiful and motivating…. Sometimes all that a person needs is motivation… A slight push
Very poertic. I’m nothing like you, but maybe you’ll find something you like on my page…
A lot of wisdom there 🙂 More and more I am starting to tune into the old saying that life is about the journey not the destination 😉
I just needed this, really motivating!
Short & simple… Keep going…
We all need to motivate one another…good post
Life is not simple and those oddly beautiful places that can be seen as tempting places far off on the horizon can be (but not always) disappointing hen tou get there and look around. I have been alive for quite awhile and the funny thing is that what I miss most are those places I remember long ago that no longer exist. I remember climbing high in an apple tree and throwing apples down to my mother. I remember the long lonely beaches with no one in sightahd the washed up dried strands of seaweed full of strabge sponges and bright colored bits of te shells of sea creatures, I remember picking blueburries in the New Jersey woods near the palisades, I remember the wonder of flying a small light plane over the Hudson River and over the Empire State building, I remember the beach at Etretat near Paros with strange cliffs on either side with caves and the whole beach thick with rounded stones like grey eggs and the hollows in the rocky beach itself, each with a treasure of a crab or an anemone or a sea snail.
THE SPEED OF LIGHT
Come with me to a star
Sixty light years away
And look back
With super eyes
At the small blue point
We call the Earth.
Squint to see the peninsula
We call Florida.
The morning sun
Has struck the sea
With lines of fire.
There on the beach
Where quiet waves
Throw long smooth curves
On the flats of sand
My mother and my father
Perch on folding stools
Before stick easels
Wetting Whatman paper
With streaks of ultramarine
And prussian blue.
Strands of seaweed
In thick tangled piles
Meander on for miles
Along the empty beach
Concealing treasures.
Curly spiral wormshells,
Pink scallops, purple mussels
Thumbnail sized,
Strange hooked eggs of sharks,
Round sea beans liked cusped doorknobs.
My brother, ten years old,
And I, twelve,
Shuffle slowly through the piles
Garnering delights.
Florida like that
Is long gone.
But the image
Of my father, my mother
My brother and I
And the glory that was Florida
Is sailing out
Into the universe
At the speed of light.

I was told recently the horizon is exactly 27 miles away. How do they measure that! Lovely prose, thank you
Love what you wrote, it’s so simple yet insperational.

nice…
I really needed this just now 👌â¤
So inspirational ♡
So encouraging!!
Looking forward to getting to know you through your website/blog!
So true. I remember a philosophy teacher once giving me directions – ‘leave the car park along the path that isn’t there…” Remarkably, it was impressively accurate.
Wow
It’s so simple and right answer for every question like ‘how can I get there’ or ‘how can I get my goal’ but too hard to do it.. I almost forgot it but because of your posting, I can remind it. Thank you so much and I’ll keep in mind.
Yes indeed, and you are most welcome
wooow
thank YOU.

Delightful!
I love this, I love the style of it. And I hope that’s how I get there…. 🙂
Thanks for the lovely poem Pam. I especially appreciate how applicable the message of this is to our daily lives. Whether it’s a relationship or a career or simply aiming to further your knowledge in something, the fact of the matter is that you get out of life what you put into it (hard work and perseverance) which is what the poem illustrates. I just started a blog about relationships with my girlfriend and we thought you would enjoy checking out some of our content as well.

Fablous!!!
it’s awesome
How I get there:) Look forward! ignore everyone! go ahead! 😛
I teach middle school and I often use the analogy of driving across country, with a map (so antiquated these days). If you only look at the end goal of California, you’ll miss taking the correct turns along the way (they don’t need to know that Rt. 80 is a straight shot!). I love your poem so much more though. I wrote a short essay yesterday about how you get through the door in the first place, by taking a leap of faith. With my oldest daughter heading off to a far-away college in the fall, I’ve been thinking a lot about leaps of faith and how you get there. Thank you.
I’ve taken many leaps of faith in my time… We adopted 12 children, looked after 150 foster children and now My Dear Heart and I get to do different things… and I do try to head in the right direction.
Very motivational!
Simple but beautiful
Two rules to getting there
#1 Get started
#2 Keep moving
Thank you for the light at the end of the tunnel. That’s where the real fun begins 🙂 <3
