The miracle of the day.

Asilomar. There is a grey blue light outside and by the time I have gone through my emails and finished this post it will burst into orange. The miracle of the day. So I figure that when the day begins with such an event, the rest of the day almost can’t go wrong. Maybe it’s…

Traveling – on the road for 65 days – So far.

It takes planning, patience, persistence and perseverance.

Sometimes I’m a little short on some of those things, but to be honest, out of the 100’s of people I’ve met on this tour only one person fell short of my expectation. I’ve traveled around the world and flown, to seven countries on lots of flights and I’m still smiling.

The tools of an artist.

I decided just to add the photos of the tools of the artists I have visited. Everything is beautiful, from a bucket of bolts to a piece of metal hanging in a turquoise
wall. I hope these images are an inspiration for you,

Grandma teaches Quilting….

I walk a fine line in those preparation months. Balancing my role of Mother and house Frau and maintaining my identity as a Tutor/Presenter. Realistically, the family don’t understand the measure of my involvement. How can you explain it.? Grandma teaches Quilting….
About 30 people in our family need me at home and 100’s of people around the world have invested huge sums of money to attend class with me. The pressure is immense, I try not to let it take over my being, but I don’t think I would be human if I didn’t worry. At times, I’m preoccupied and forget to finish a sentence or even a conversation.

The art of Quilting is reaching across the world.

Kantha, Appliqué, embroidery and quilting have been in India since the 6th century. But now there is a movement into the quilting arts of the rest of the world, I have a vision of sharing my ideas on textile art using modern technology.

Mr Aditya Gupta is presenting this opportunity in Delhi to Indian participants from the 3rd to the 6th of March I will be teaching three of my own techniques to the ladies. Laurie Tigner will be teaching Quilting on the Handi Quilter. It’s a great honor.

Photographic images to stimulate your ideas for Textile art.

For my students coming to Costa Rica with me in January, these are the sort of things that we will be looking at to create Texture.

What do you see? Do you have words to describe these moving shapes in the water?

Melbourne, the city of street photography.

I love to capture the light, the textures of a place, the spontaneous images of street photography and the urban wildlife if I can. It certainly makes for an all round expose of the place I visited. The images remain for ever.
