Houston Quilt Festival:- Day 2.

The show opened officially last night and I wasn’t able to get images of the excitement and rush to get into the event because I was out at dinner and then I had the privilege to attend the Opera at the convention centre.

It’s a tradition, people line up, with lines winding down the street for a considerable distance waiting for the doors to open. So today the convention centre will be a bus of excitement and I hope to have some time at lunch to visit the winning quilts.

Paducah – Day 4

I just love going to award ceremonies and dear friend Mark Sherman gave a very moving tribute to  AQS founder Bill Schroeder who passed away recently. What an amazing legacy he leaves.

Paducah, day 2

I jumped out of bed in excitement and anticipation. I just love sharing my ideas, meeting new people and encouraging everyone to take a small leap out of the box.  On the road, you eat what you have in the fridge if you’re busy. Broccoli, cheese soup, yogurt, coffee and hummus. All pretty healthy, but not your normal form of sustenance for breakfast.

Pam Holland, – just what do you really do.

I have a lot of folks ask me. Just what do you really do… Well, this is part of my life as a textile artist… It’s not everything I do, but it’s part of it.

A shout out for the young people learning that a quilt is a piece of art.

I shout it from the rooftops that we need to  encourage the younger generation to take up a needle and thread. Our event, the Southern New Mexico Festival of Quilts does just that. A group of young people dressed in orange with  “Ambassador” on their back worked tirelessly to help set up the event, serve…

How to make the little quilt. -It’s drapplique.

What is Drapplique.

My word for drawing and appliqué.

A few people have written to me and asked how to complete this small piece.

How I use my iPad pro for illustration purposes.

I have an iPad Pro and I use it in a number of ways for my art, designs and the planning of my Designs.
I’m going to show you how I used it for some of the illustrations for my Bayeux Project.
I photocopied the image I wanted to reproduce.
This is a screen shot of the process.
I use Adobe sketch, an iPad and an iPhone application.
On opening the application you will find two small squares on the left hand side. One has sketch layer written on it, the other has background.
