Gees Louise, it’s about to begin again.

What on earth is the next adventure you ask, well it may be coming to an interesting class. Joining me on a Textile tour of India and Nepal or even a class in the Carribean.

So its a flurry of excitement and work right now and I do admit that the brain is on overload.

When it all gets too much, I spend time with the Grandies,

The transition from Tutor to Mother.

It’s that transition from Tutor, tour guide, friend to Mother. From living in an environment where there are the high expectations of your peers and students to the day to day running of a house the responsibilities of wife, Mother and Grandmother.

Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.

It’s July, I’ve traveled 4 times this year, been away for 106 days, traveled 124,241 air miles, visited 17 cities in 6 countries and that doesn’t include the land miles… which are in the 1000’s of course. And the surprising thing is that it’s all in the name of Textile Art. Travel is the only…

Gals on the road -learning about creativity.

We’ve had 5 days in Santa Fe and its been the most wonderful experience. There is so much to like about this city. Everyone we’ve met has been very helpful and a pleasure to visit with. We’ve made a lot of new friends.

I love the climate at this time of the year but the locals tell me it’s a little hot for this time of the year. I’m a very visual person. Everywhere I turn there is beauty and things that I’ve never seen before.

To say that Santa Fe is unique is an understatement.

These are my everyday things.

My home is comfort. My  home is where I relax the most. My Husband, our Grandies, the sound of the birds, the smell of eucalyptus in the air, my big comfy chair downstairs with its companion the quilt and my beloved studio and there is always vegemite on toast. These are my everyday things. But at times with…

The gift of time out for an artist on the road.

If I’m not actively busy I begin to feel that I should be home with my family or working on my major project. It’s always been that way when I’m traveling. Downtime often feels like I’m living in excess, but it’s a little difficult to actually go from one event to another time wise when you are 17,000 miles from home.

Stand beside those who have talent.

Stand beside those who have talent.

That’s the way you learn.

You are only as creative and good as the -people you surround yourself with in spirit.

On the other hand, there is merit in learning things the hard way. Walking down the road with many bumps teaches you valuable lessons.
Be kind to yourself.

Now what will I do with this?

The world speeds past you in a fusion of color as you travel and I try to capture as much as I can with photo images, however, the design images stay in the brain and don’t escape until I put pen to paper.

This past year the world of illustration changed for me when I was introduced to the iPad Pro. Now I have paints, inks, pencils with me all in one package and the soothing music in the ipad of Nora Jones added to my relaxation as I worked yesterday.
