Photography is my passion and I was keen to capture the light and ambience of this majestic place. However, I really wanted to see and photograph the ‘wave’ formation of rocks. The formation is situated on the slopes of the Coyote Buttes in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness of the Colorado Plateau.

The rest of this blog is a photographic explanation of our visit.

It takes guts if you are a Graffiti artist and you come up against a group of quilters of middling age.

And then there was Joe, a young man who loved graffiti and who walked out of class so excited and enthused because he mastered quilt illustration on his thread graffiti piece. He works at the quilt store and I’m going to visit him again when I get back to town. Hugs Joe it takes guts to spend a day with a group of women quilters.

Taking photos of animals to create textile art.

My passion is thread painting. (using the sewing machine to create an image with thread) and not having a cat I practice taking photos on my friends cat. She is patient and sits with a fixed stare as if to say. ‘Just take it’

Quilters are definately Heart Rich !

I had a huge lump in my throat this morning when I was taken to see a wall of Geraldine quilts made by 8-13 year old girls in a community that has some incredible challenges. I’m sure you would be filled with pride if these were your Grandies. I’m sure you would have admired the young people, all in their orange shirts who spent an entire day with us. Their youthful spirit put to the test as we asked them to carry machines, help set up booths and then take a quilting class with Miss Sue for a few hours.

Art, adventures and the lost computer.

So as I fly in with a smile on my face, and a heart nearly breaking with pride I can’t wait for it all to begin. It’s a crazy week for all of us, Radio, TV. Visits and a laugh a minute. Then again there are five new classes from dear friend Sue Rassmusen and I to share with you all, and you my dear friends make it work.

Notes for the diary.

I drink the first cup of coffee in the Qantas club. Not the ones they have prepared prior to my arrival and displayed on a tray in paper cups as you walk past. Make if fresh honey and please can I have it in a cup not a paper thing. The plane flight is just an hour and a half and I manage a little breakfast and a drawing of a rabbit, just because I could.

The Secret Lives of Princesses

She advises, corrects and consoles.
Soul Sister, kindred spirit, or BFF, she shares life’s most intense moments as well as the boring ones. She holds the Princesse’s hand when she is sad, stands by her side no matter what happens, and is her shoulder to lean on in case of a hard blow.

More than a simple companion, the confidante is

a locked safe that keeps all the princesses secrets.
There are many stories of great friendship between a princess and her confidante. Some last only for a short time, like those of a Princess-for-a-day.

How do you get there.

Go to the end of the path until you get to the gate. Go through the gate and head straight towards the horizon. Keep going towards the horizon. Sit down and have a rest now and again. But keep on going. Just keep on with it. Keep on going as far as you can. That’s…
