Still working on the Giraffe. To be honest I had some doubts after I coloured the background but I quite like it now and I have a lot more planned for it, by that I mean I need to darken the top two edges of the quilt so that your eyes focus on the image…
I’m creating a year long time capsule. I may not be able to do it each day, but I will try to capture just a little bit daily. You may be interested, maybe it’s boring, but it’s a social experiment on my behalf. I have an application called’ Day One’ on my phone, Ipad and…
I love staying in hotels….. actually it’s just as well because I’ve spent almost 7 weeks out of the last 12 living in them. 98% are Hilton Hotels so I know just what the bed will be like, the shampoo and the soap and even the coffee. It’s familiar, it’s comfortable, I get a great…

Day 24 of 89 on the road. The day began early. Very early. Check the weight of the luggage, I am so sick of lifting luggage, my arms ache, but I had to do it again, no one else is there to do if for me. Scoot down to the lobby and wait for…
I bought rolls of the paper in the dark storeroom below. We had little idea of what we were buying because there was no light.. just an occasional flicker of a torch. I have a duty to use the paper, which I have begun to do today and as I handle it the memories flood back.
I’ve visited Asilomar for the past 5 years, however, this year I took the opportunity to take a few images to share with my friends.
I woke with anticipation in the morning and a just a slight concern about the uncertain. I hadn’t traveled on Jetblue before, I’ve never been to Costa Rica and I was unsure of the timing of the events of the day. But you just let the events slide over you and the inevitable happens. The day proceeds like a thread through fabric, weaving and blending all the events to make one.
I walk a fine line in those preparation months. Balancing my role of Mother and house Frau and maintaining my identity as a Tutor/Presenter. Realistically, the family don’t understand the measure of my involvement. How can you explain it.? Grandma teaches Quilting….
About 30 people in our family need me at home and 100’s of people around the world have invested huge sums of money to attend class with me. The pressure is immense, I try not to let it take over my being, but I don’t think I would be human if I didn’t worry. At times, I’m preoccupied and forget to finish a sentence or even a conversation.
We began the tour with a visit to the historic India gate. Whilst photographing the landmark itself, we noticed 50 or more women working in the gardens close by. They carried long hand-made brooms and their brightly colored clothing was obscured at times by a small cloud of dust as they swept the ground. Some ladies were crouched pulling weeds. The temperature and the humidity was in the 90’s, I just can’t imagine how hard that is.
