Are you coming to teach in the UK I am a retired creative arts teacher mostly working with delinquent teenagers and prison inmates , now that I am ‘ retired’ I have time to peruse my own interests and have taken up applique , designing my first quilt at the moment. Having been a seamstress and embroiderer all my life
I LOVE your work and admire your talent . I stumbled across you whilst looking for fusible web on the Internet only to read that you don’t recommend vliesofix, so I will try steam a seam lite( thank you) I have never ventured to use these products before as I ‘ needle turn Applique’ I am rather traditional in my crafts and am trying to ‘ break free’ and try more unconventional (to me) ways. In my new quilt I want to put in some honeysuckle which is not the easiest flower to applique and I think this new method might do the trick, thank you so much for inspiring me.have you published any books on your techniques kind regards on this Mother’s Day morning Sylvia

    • Hello Andree, I use 3 cameras, the small point and shoot is a Lumix DM-LX7, I use it as a point and shoot and its great for macro and wide angle.
I also have a sony a6000 with a 210 lens and my professional camera is a Cannon 5D mark III. Thank you for your comments.

Hello Ms. Holland, I recently purchased your book The Adventures of the Amazing Alphabet, at a local quilt shop. They had some of the letters displayed. It caught my eye and interest instantly. I was wondering if you blend colors in the designs. The instructions never mentioned it. I would love to try it but find I have questions unanswered in the book. Do you have a video or more detailed instructions elsewhere? I would love to begin creating from your book very soon.
    Thank you,

    • Yvonne, thanks for buy the book. Yes, you can blend the colors if you do it while they are wet. Practice a little first on scrap fabric. Its not mention in the book because I don’t blend the colors I use them pure and get an effect from shading. No, I don’t have a DVD, but just email me at pamholland3@mac.com if you need further assistance. Send a photo of what you’re trying to do and I will talk you through it.

    • Hello Yvonne, thanks for buying my book. In fact I didn’t blend any of the colors in the book, they are all pure pen colors. I just manipulate them to shade the image. You can blend them when they are wet, but I don’t really recommend it.
If you need further help you can email me at pamholland3@mac.com and I will talk you through it. Send me a picture of what you are trying to achieve.

  7. Hi Pam,
Happy Holidays! Your work is beautiful and I hope I can take a class from you at some point in the future. What threads do you recommend for thread-painting, and do you use high sheen or low sheen thread? I want to try out some thread painting, but am confused about the best thread to use. I hope you will write another book, but one about your painting and threadwork methods! I would be one of the first to buy it!!! Continued success with your teaching and your work!

    • Hello Denise, I use a combination of threads, but always cotton. I use 50 weight thread because its fine and cotton because of the flexibility and the fact that I dye it as well. I do have something coming out on thread painting… it will be announced in the new year. Have a great Festive Season.

Hi. I’ve been trying to buy a copy of Pam’s book, the adventures of the amazing alaphbet but it keeps charging me for shipping costs from Australia. While in Pam’s class at Asilomar in April she mentioned that the book should default to shipping from the US. Can you help me resolve this?
