This is the beginning of the illustrated quilt. I'm using a .5 black pigment ink pen. I want it to have a sketched effect rather than be completely black. In that case I would have used Indian ink and pen.

The thread will match and be a charcoal color rather than pure black. I have the drawing on velum pinned under the fabric. I've not washed the fabric, the sizing keeps the ink crisp and it doesn't bleed. It's just like drawing on paper….
