There are lots of Japanese and Korean tourists on big pink buses that snake in a line down the freeways. One could say a caterpillar of tourists.
Our visit to the city yesterday was just like being in any largish city, our plan was to look at Texture, but when we managed to get our guide to take us to the ‘alternative’ part of town, we found delicious bakeries, a fabric shop, a market to buy Mola embroideries… and our day was complete.
I woke with anticipation in the morning and a just a slight concern about the uncertain. I hadn’t traveled on Jetblue before, I’ve never been to Costa Rica and I was unsure of the timing of the events of the day. But you just let the events slide over you and the inevitable happens. The day proceeds like a thread through fabric, weaving and blending all the events to make one.
One of my secrets for sanity and health safety is that sometimes in hotel rooms with a past, I carry a silk sleeping cocoon that also covers the pillow… yep, I had to bring it out today.

I loved the little waders and I spent quite a bit of time filming them. I think they are called Wilsons plovers. They run in cartoon style up the beach following the receding wave and then as if on cue, they turn as one and run back up the beach keeping just ahead of the wave. It was like a Bird Ballet.
I walk a fine line in those preparation months. Balancing my role of Mother and house Frau and maintaining my identity as a Tutor/Presenter. Realistically, the family don’t understand the measure of my involvement. How can you explain it.? Grandma teaches Quilting….
About 30 people in our family need me at home and 100’s of people around the world have invested huge sums of money to attend class with me. The pressure is immense, I try not to let it take over my being, but I don’t think I would be human if I didn’t worry. At times, I’m preoccupied and forget to finish a sentence or even a conversation.

I have an iPad Pro and I use it in a number of ways for my art, designs and the planning of my Designs.
I’m going to show you how I used it for some of the illustrations for my Bayeux Project.

On opening the application you will find two small squares on the left hand side. One has sketch layer written on it, the other has background.
Kantha, Appliqué, embroidery and quilting have been in India since the 6th century. But now there is a movement into the quilting arts of the rest of the world, I have a vision of sharing my ideas on textile art using modern technology.
Mr Aditya Gupta is presenting this opportunity in Delhi to Indian participants from the 3rd to the 6th of March I will be teaching three of my own techniques to the ladies. Laurie Tigner will be teaching Quilting on the Handi Quilter. It’s a great honor.
For my students coming to Costa Rica with me in January, these are the sort of things that we will be looking at to create Texture.
