Those of you who follow my blog are aware that I use the time traveling to design, write, think and create connections between my journal at my destination and my studio at home. I record everything I see, collect things and it’s mainly textile based. Beautiful cloth that has been touched by others hands. Stories and history i

An experiment in Dyeing.
They look wonderful sitting in the jars, whether on not I achieve anything… who knows, but I just did it to see.
Art to make your heart leap – color.
As you wander through the gallery you suddenly get a peep through the door of the skirts painted with vibrant outback colors suspended from the ceiling. The shadows reflecting delicate floating shapes on the floor.
There’s a Hero in everybody’s heart
As I mentioned, my heroes are the families in our adoption group who some 40 years ago changed the lives of so many children. We all grew up together in happiness and pain and its hard to come to terms with the fact that some are loosing their personal battles.
I also include my close personal friends, Miss Lisa Blevins and our team of volunteers in Alamogordo New Mexico. We make the sun shine for many and you are my hero’s. This will be our best year yet.
Re-purposing and creating your own fabric.
Well, I guess we all see beauty and use in the things that interest us. My favourite quilt find is a very old quilt filled with raw cotton and made from bright orange fabric and feed sacks. I actually put a new border of vintage feed sacks on it to make it last just a little longer. I sit under it every day. Maybe I am blind, but I adore that old quilt.
We wish you a Merry Christmas, – things are changing.
It’s just 7.00 am and there are no small children’s voices at our house like there used to be. YET !
I wake on Christmas day and everything looks just a little nicer, the garden seems brighter, the house is lovely and there is the warm feeling of expectation that accompanies the name, ‘Christmas Day’. In one way it’s a celebration of all we have been given for the past year.
Then and now, repurposing quilt designs and the evolvement.
Still working on this one. I’m still colouring. On the second day of Christmas my true love sent to me, 2 pink Galahs and an emu up a Gum Tree.
I’m a Quilter, a Mum and a tour leader.
As I step off the plane, I have to morph into the home Pam Holland. Wife, Mother, Cleaner, Chef and leave the other persona behind. To be honest no one at home understood. In the early days some Bambinos were known to have asked me “Mum whats for dinner” a few hours after I arrived.!!!
Wedding family pics.
And the day went on.
The wedding.
The weekend took months of planning on behalf of Megs and Jamie. The day was perfect and this is the first of a two day celebration.
