I always have a vision of the completed work before I begin to stitch, but it doesn’t always end up that way. This piece is a testament to that. I listen to my work, and react to the individual voice.
The next band was a little more sedate. They played rousing tunes to the beat of the band leaders waving baton The audience were entranced and some jumped up from their seats and joined in the revelry.
My quilting style belongs to me and me alone.
What I create is from my heart and head.
My brain is my tool, my heart is my intuition, and my hands do my bidding.
It’s so nice being home. I have another day of teaching today with a group of ladies who honour me with their presence. I’m always humbled and I still have the feeling of amazement that someone actually waits in anticipation, prepares and packs their supplies to come to one of my classes. When those ladies arrive laden with their machines and large overflowing bags of fabric, notions and the latest equipment I do a little mental dance.
Artists have challenged art by situating it in non-art contexts. Street artists do not aspire to change the definition of an artwork, but rather to question the existing environment with its own language. The motivations and objectives that drive street artists are as varied as the artists themselves.
A week ago today, Mr Otto, our local Bernina dealer installed a Q20 machine for me to work the Bayeux on. I was temped to stop everything else and do a project on it, but I had a project scheduled for yesterday and so it had to wait till then. The machine sat there beckoning me to use it… actually, I did have a little play but not real stuff.
I found my mojo through hard work and experience. My quilting style belongs to me and me alone. What I create is from my heart and head. My brain is my tool, my heart is my intuition, and my hands do my bidding. However, that doesn’t mean I won’t have a slip up on occasions. That doesn’t mean that I don’t have doubts or worries. I do fail sometimes.
I just walked the streets, ate good food, sat in the park and listened to world renown authors read their works. It was a magical day and I captured it forever in images.
his is the image I began with. Ideally is not the best image to work with, simply because of the angle of his arm. But this is a gift for his Mum and this photo was taken when he was displaying exuberance at being at an event we had been anticipating for some time.
