Learning more and more about textiles.

I loved the plain pieces of embossed cotton, that had been heavily waxed. My mind was racing overtime to design something to use it in. I loved a deep brown that looked like leather. It was waxed to a high sheen and I image it would be wonderful for raw edge appliqué. But I didn’t buy it. Once again, I have so many things banked up to do after the Bayeux. I need to be realistic. When I do need it. I know where to buy it.!

Color, just plain color. Bangkok flower and fabric market.

Our first visit to Bangkok was in 1976 when we adopted our son Joshua and we accidentally stayed in a brothel…. The Maya Guest house, yes, it turns out the hotel was a house of ill-repute. Oooh I could tell you some stories and I was very innocent in those days. Then again it was really, really interesting. So that memory is never far from our mind when we visit here.

Paper fabric? – Hanji.

Walking into a shop full of paper is like walking into a quilt shop. There are layers and layers of brightly colored papers lining the walls, floors and tables.

Capture the color.

3 weeks ago I came to Mexico to share my ideas and quilting techniques to both Artists and Quilters alike. I have a history in Mexico going back 8 years now. I’m very lucky to have made so many wonderful friends here. I love everything, the art, the people, the designs, the food and of course the color.
