Art in the street – the visual story.

Capturing the essence of things that happen in the street.

A street artist works silently amidst the hubbub of a busy street in Seoul Korea. Passers by are fascinated and stand silently watching the image appear on his paper.

This is a small visual story, the artist works on paper, I capture his image on camera and I share it with my friends who may never travel to this part of the world.

Trains, tea and travel images in Seoul Korea.

The scenery passes us by like a fast – moving television screen, green fields, water sodden paddy, large cities, tunnels and flashing light as we go through the mountains rather than over it and everything is just so tidy.

Paper fabric? – Hanji.

Walking into a shop full of paper is like walking into a quilt shop. There are layers and layers of brightly colored papers lining the walls, floors and tables.

Capture and create – two special events in June.

Monday, June 22, 9 am – 4:30 pm I’m going to take you on a the bus ride of your life, grab your camera and see the world through my eyes and then I will share my ‘Capture and Create’ ideas. How do you make a quilt from the images.

Experience a scenic bus tour unlike any other with Pam Holland, visiting off-the-map sites and capturing the simple beauty the area offers. Enjoy the splendor of area backroads as you experience an Amish schoolhouse, shop house, hand-painted barn quilts, and so much more.

Observations and Exercises.

The Lady is called Catherine, she worked for two months and made this embroidery from 4 panels woven on the backstop loom. I visited the family and bought her delightful piece. Thats the beginning of the story, part of the tory behind the quilt. The end will be when I finish and share the quilt.

Textile art and the way I look at color.

A textile artist is always looking for inspiration. I’m attracted to the way one color blends with another, somehow the colors set off endorphins in my brain that says, ‘Like me’

The embroidered blouse, a little gem of art.

The fascinating thing about Mexican blouses is the designs that are put onto each blouse. Each small symbol has a meaning in the culture of the artisan and it differs by region.

Tacos, translators and Texture.

We have another man in class who is incredibly funny and the day rolled past with bursts of hilarity and small episodes of quiet concentration. I wonder if other Tutors have taken a class with a translator at their side and two cameramen following their every move.

Photo journal of Morelia Mexico. – Capture and Create.

My photos are an expression of what I saw as I walked for a few hours. I hope they give you a small glimpse of interesting things.
