We wish you a Merry Christmas, – things are changing.

It’s just 7.00 am and there are no small children’s voices at our house like there used to be. YET !

I wake on Christmas day and everything looks just a little nicer, the garden seems brighter, the house is lovely and there is the warm feeling of expectation that accompanies the name, ‘Christmas Day’. In one way it’s a celebration of all we have been given for the past year.

Mum you didn’t really drape you quilts over the Police Bike did you?

I tried to explain Quilting to him, but he didn’t understand so I said, let me show you a quilt. I opened the trunk and we had show and tell right on the road side, Drowning Bear draped across his bike and the sun shining against the brightest blue sky.

On the fourth day of Christmas, Pam had a hiccup.

thought I would write on the blog tonight and let you know just what it is like to be a member of Pam’s entourage.

I knew before I left that I would have certain duties to perform while travelling with Pam. She’s a superstar you see – I know this is true because I read it in the April edition of the Readers Digest. It said that “Pam Holland is to quilting what Ian Thorpe is to swimming – a superstar with numerous international awards”.

3 Kookaburras Laughing.

Pre- travel, it was a game each year to see who could find the presents… and it was no mean feat hiding presents for 13+
Forget under the bed, in the wardrobe or even the garage…. often it was a locked cellar, the ceiling cavity or even the friends and neighbors houses….
But then again, their kids would dob….

The 2nd day of Christmas.

We didn’t get invited to relatives or even our parents houses for Christmas with our troops.
Its not that they were badly behaved, to be honest they were more polite than most, but the sheer number put the fear of dread into the most staunch of family members.

My Gift to you.

It’s just 12 days till Christmas and so I want to create a little something you can download and keep.

So, From me, to you.

I thank you, my students, my family, the friends I spend time with and all who follow my blog and Facebook posts. Thanks for your support as I traveled and shared, and thanks for having faith in the fact that I could share some of my knowledge in the classroom and lecture halls.

Then and now, repurposing quilt designs and the evolvement.

Still working on this one. I’m still colouring. On the second day of Christmas my true love sent to me, 2 pink Galahs and an emu up a Gum Tree.

I’m a Quilter, a Mum and a tour leader.

As I step off the plane, I have to morph into the home Pam Holland. Wife, Mother, Cleaner, Chef and leave the other persona behind. To be honest no one at home understood. In the early days some Bambinos were known to have asked me “Mum whats for dinner” a few hours after I arrived.!!!

We are friends.

“There’s a marked difference between acquaintances and friends. Most people really don’t become friends. They become deep and serious acquaintances. But in a friendship you get to know the spirit of another person; and your values coincide. Friends may disagree, but not about serious matters. A friend will stand for you when you are no longer able. A woman can say to herself, If I die, I know that my friend, my sister friend will be here to hold up the banner. Now that’s very profound.”
