The portrait part of the quilt is completed….. (well of course it still needs to be appliquéd and quilted, but that is a little way down the track) Now where do I go from here? I began on the journey of making the quilt 10 months ago…. and a chance visit to an art gallery…

Portrait finished to this stage
I’m happy that this part of the quilt top is finished…. Now I need to work on the borders… I have a lot of ideas… but I need to audition them….. In creating a border, it must compliment her not detract from her image.
Portrait 22
Well the last part of the puzzle is the necklace… then the entire portrait can be assembled. I decided to illustrate the necklace rather than use small pieces of fabric. First, I traced the image onto my cartoon (original pattern) Fusible web on the back to give stability and in preparation for adhering to…
Portrait No 21
In the previous post I mentioned I was unhappy with her arms… So…… I whipped them off and refined them a little, re-drawing the image and then trimming the arms to make them a little slimmer.I realized that I had included the shadow on the under arm as actual arm….. so a degree of trimming…….

It was a “NO” day.
I wasn’t able to work on the blog last night, the server was down….. But I sat at the machine and completed 10 hours of quilting and appliqué…. The free motion foot on my machine squeaked the whole time… even a little machine oil didn’t alleviate the noise, so I’ve made inquiries about a new…
