A little down time.

Being anonymous is wonderful. I don’t have to share my life story at lunch or dinner. It’s very flattering some times but after 10 days I long for a quiet place and here in my home base in NM I can do that. Besides I’m staying with my best friend and we just enjoy interesting things together like photography,  art and travel.

Living the life folks. – The journey of the traveling Grandma.

Day 24 of 89 on the road. The day began early. Very early. Check the weight of the luggage, I am so sick of lifting luggage, my arms ache, but I had to do it again, no one else is there to do if for me.   Scoot down to the lobby and wait for…

Living the life folks. – The journey of the traveling Grandma.

I’m a ‘something’ year old Grandmother living the dream of traveling and teaching, creating and photographing and working darn hard simply because I love it.  Day 23 of 89 on the road. Sitting at my desk in the Hilton Los LAX, Los Angeles. The sun’s going down and I see a number of planes in…

Designing.

I’m in the design process.

Did it begin today?

No, it began when I took the photo in India a month ago and it’s been floating around in my mind and popping into my mind for short periods of time in the past few weeks.

How could I imagine that I, a poor shy kid for the suburbs would be able to visit it…  Well here I am and I’m going to enjoy every minute.

Textiles, the story – of a journey to discover the fabric of everyday life.

Hop onto a plane in Houston and travel 24 hours, change the time zone to go backwards and you’re in Delhi, India  at a very unusual time of the morning. (2.00 am) but with a gathering of spirits in  immigration, lines and lines of tired people from all walks of life, you finally do…

Images of Guatemala – No 2.

Images of Guatemala. I’ve met this lady on a previous trip, she features in the Destination Craft Show on PBS. She sits in the square near the church and for a small fee ill demonstrate how to wrap the head gear. The red hand woven strip is about 10 feet long and the colored…

Walking in Antigua today. – a visual feast.

Finally winding down now that we are here in Antigua Guatemala and my group is just wonderful. That said, our feet pounded the cobblestones over 17,000 times today. I decided that we would eat at a different restaurant each morning for breakfast and our Guide Carlos took us to an amazing restaurant. I didn’t get…

There is a connection.

There is a connection.

It’s got nothing to do with age, religion, or even culturally, it’s a gut feeling and often a chance meeting turns into a gentle friendship.
“It’s nice to meet someone who gets it” was a comment made recently.

“Yes it is indeed”
